ECOFIT EP400 Reinforcement Epoxy Adhesive

A Guaranteed Solution for Quality FRP Composites

ECOFIT EP400 is a two-component, thixotropic, solvent-free, and moisture-tolerant epoxy adhesive with high bond strength, designed and produced in compliance with the requirements of ASTM C880 and ASTM C881/C881M standards. Presented by HIEBER sazvare, this product has been optimized as an environmentally friendly solution for both industrial and structural applications.

1. Product Description

ECOFIT EP400 is a high-performance, two-part, solvent-free thixotropic epoxy resin. Its moisture-tolerant nature and exceptional bonding strength make it ideal for bonding and repair applications in various environments, including damp conditions and even underwater. The thixotropic properties prevent the material from sagging or flowing, even at high temperatures. The formulation cures without shrinkage, and its color-coded components ensure accurate mixing. Once fully cured, the adhesive can be drilled and sanded and does not cause corrosion of rebar.

2. Applications

As a high-performance, multipurpose epoxy adhesive, ECOFIT EP400 is used in a wide range of civil and structural engineering applications:

  • FRP System Installation: This adhesive is optimized for installing FRP fabrics (carbon, glass, or aramid fibers) on concrete substrates in dry lay-up reinforcement systems.

  • Bonding to Diverse Substrates: It provides excellent adhesion to wood, steel, aluminum, and other metal substrates for retrofitting and repair.

  • Leveling and Bedding Layer: It serves as a leveling and bedding layer on surfaces that will receive external reinforcements.

  • Anchoring and Grouting: Used for anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar in concrete and other building materials.

  • Bonding Structural Components: Suitable for bonding precast structural segments together.

  • General Purpose Applications: Its excellent adhesion to various building materials makes it suitable for general-purpose use.

3. Performance Advantages

ECOFIT EP400 offers numerous benefits, making it a robust choice for reinforcement and repair projects:

  • Superior Adhesion & Mechanical Properties: Provides excellent adhesion to concrete, steel, and most building materials, along with very high mechanical properties such as bond, tensile, and shear strength.

  • Rapid & High Ultimate Strength: Achieves excellent early and ultimate mechanical strengths.

  • Chemical & Physical Resistance: Offers outstanding chemical resistance and is highly resistant to impact, shock, and acid.

  • Ease of Use: Features color-coded components for accurate mixing, good wetting properties without the need for primers on dry or damp substrates, and is easy to use with low odor.

  • Performance in Special Conditions: Can be applied in damp and even underwater conditions. It is non-sagging and non-flowing even at high temperatures and cures without shrinkage.

  • Durability and Compatibility: Once cured, it can be drilled and sanded and does not corrode rebar. It is also suitable for vertical and horizontal applications.

5. Standards and Certifications

ECOFIT EP400 reinforcement epoxy adhesive is manufactured and tested in accordance with the following international standards:

  • ASTM C881/C881M: Standard Specification for Epoxy-Resin-Base Bonding Systems for Concrete.

  • HIEBER: A company dedicated to producing environmentally friendly construction chemicals.

6. Application Instructions

  • Surface Preparation: The substrate surface (concrete, steel, wood, etc.) must be completely clean, dry, and free from loose particles, dust, laitance, oil, grease, curing agents, impregnations, waxes, foreign particles, deteriorated material, and any other bond-inhibiting substances. Surface preparation can be done by sandblasting, grinding, or chipping. The surface must be completely dry with no standing water.

  • Mixing: Mix each component (A and B) separately. Then, add component “B” to component “A” and mix thoroughly using a low-speed drill (max. 300 rpm) with an appropriate mixing paddle for at least 3 minutes, or until a uniform, streak-free color is achieved. For partial mixing, maintain a ratio of 1 part component “B” to 3 parts component “A” by weight or volume in a clean bucket. Mix only the amount that can be used within the pot life.

  • Primer: Dry surfaces do not require a primer or bonding agent.

  • Consumption Rate: Approximately 0.8 to 1.2 kg per square meter is recommended for the installation of normal-thickness fabrics.

  • Limitations: ECOFIT EP400 should not be applied at temperatures below 5 °C. Diluting ECOFIT EP400 with solvents is prohibited, as solvents prevent the product from curing correctly and completely.

7. Packaging
